Obama’s Yes We ‘kein’ girl

Plenty of buzz today about the new music video set to Barack Obama’s “Yes We Can” speech, with plenty of celebs pitching in.

Now, we’ve mentioned before the signs that Obama is trying to shore up his standing in the Jewish community (here, here). But this might take the cake… Two of the only departures from the actual speech appear to be the times when a woman appears on the screen (at 1:08 and 1:43), saying kein annu yicholim (in Hebrew: yes we can).

Who is it? Actress Maya Rubin. (Props to JTA’s Jacob Berkman for figuring it out).

  1. The obama campaign didn’t produce the video, it was entirely independently made by will.i.am. You should really correct that in your blog post, it insinuates that there aren’t already supporters of israel supporting obama.
